Werewolves are a supernatural species of human beings with the ability to turn into wolf-like creatures.
Creation
Some werewolves are born, such as the case with Harlan and Luna, but in instances when a human becomes a werewolf, the transformation is made via bite, as indicated with Everett and Blake. The bite, however, will fully heal within hours, or at least that is how it appears to the human eye. Whilst Everett's parents could not see the inflamed area of his shoulder where he was bitten, Blake could.
Appearance
Werewolves appear to differ based on a number of factors, some still being unknown, with the commonality between them being claws, fangs, and glowing eyes. As children, Harlan and Luna displayed the ability to transform into actual wolves with purple eyes, which appears to be a common trait with werewolves, as Kristin also possess the ability to turn into a wolf. However, now teens, their eyes glow yellow after being drawn to Everett and Blake, who were turned by Baron, who can turn into a bipedal werewolf with a much larger form, a direct result of having come into contact with fire, which causes a werewolf to take on a more monstrous shape.
Powers and abilities
While werewolves share some of the same abilities, they each seem to harness one specific trait. As it relates to Harlan and Luna, his hearing is superior to hers, whilst her sense of smell is second to none, whereas Everett has super strength, and Blake has incredible superior speed.
- Connectivity: When werewolves come together as a pack, they establish a mental link of sorts, allowing them to share their abilities with one another, demonstrated when Everett, Blake, and Luna shared Harlan's super hearing whilst being in separate interview rooms at the police station, as well as when they shared Luna's sense of smell as Officer Miller approached their home. More than just their powers, the pack's connection goes so deep that it allows them to share experiences as well, indicated when Blake and the twins were affected by Everett's anxiety attack at school.
- Transmutation: Baron has the unique ability to turn humans into werewolves via a bite.
- Super strength: Werewolves are remarkably strong and bitten wolves, such in the case with Everett, develop their abilities almost immediately following their transition, as indicated when he punched through a support beam that had barricaded the doorway. A werewolf was shown to drag a car with extra weight with a passenger inside, as well as shred through the driver's door of a vehicle with their claws.
- Super speed: Werewolves move faster than any human is capable. Blake displayed supernatural speed whilst running from the motel to her house with little to no exhaustion.
- Super senses: Werewolves have heightened senses, such as smell and hearing. However, these abilities can be overwhelmed and/or rendered useless under certain circumstances, such as when the wildfire interfered with Harlan and Luna's attempt to track their father.
- Full moon: All of a werewolf's abilities are heightened during a full moon.
- Shapeshifting: Werewolves possesses the ability to shape-shift, altering their features into that of a wolf-like creature. Among those features are glowing eyes, claws, and retractable, razor sharp fangs. However, at least in the twins' case, they were both staggered when their eyes glowed and when Harlan grew fangs after attacking Everett, suggesting that such abilities aren't a regular occurrence. At least not for them.
- Howling: Like real wolves, werewolves possess the ability to howl and signal their location to the rest of the pack, even unintentionally, which was the case with Blake as she screamed Danny's name whilst searching for him in the parking garage, prompting Everett and twins to come searching for her.
- Marking: Werewolves can mark werewolves, as well as humans, offering them protection from other werewolves and signifying to the rest of the pack their nonthreatening nature.
- Healing: A werewolf can heal others of injury or affliction by touching them, as in the case when Kristin touched Baron's wound from a silver-coated knife.
Weaknesses
- Silver: For many years, Garrett and Prisha speculated if silver could actually harm werewolves, or if it was simply a myth. Garrett proved this theory true during his encounter with Baron at Tia's kickback. Garrett winged him in the shoulder with a silver bullet, causing Baron to temporarily revert back to his human form.
